The Codes Enforcement guy continues to harass us. I think this latest attempt is deserving of a response. With pictures and labels and arrows in true Yvonne fashion...
Lets break it down. It has been raining for two weeks and weeds are sprouting up all over town. Yes, I will cut my weeds. But give me a break!
My house, with its piles of trash and out of control weeds:
This isn't just a problem with me. Here is the house across the street ~ but THEY didn't get a warning.
And those inoperable vehicles? Mike drives them all the time. In fact, I was just getting mad at him for blocking the trash cans with the jeep:
But the biggest joke has to be the house right next door. There is a van parked in the middle of what should be the lawn. The owner even came over to ask us if it was ours because someone just pushed it there when it broke down. He still hasn't bothered to have it towed. And the weeds are growing like crazy, but THEY DIDN'T GET A WARNING:
MY WEEDS:
And yet, WE were the only ones to be cited for codes violations.
Oooh, I think Code Enforcement Guy has a crush on you!

That is crazy. You need to call and talk to someones supervisor and you need to send these photos to your mayor with your citation. Don't be bullied!!

I think a visit down to the city hall with pics in hand and the "ticket" you received is in order. Bring all the little ones with you (I always get better results that way...) call it a civic lesson. If that doesn't garner results, I'd call the number in your local newspaper for "local matters" or the guy who fixes problems - most papers have something like that. Tell it to them, they love this sort of thing.
And if you see the guy out there checking out your lawn, go offer him some cookies and milk and be sweet as can be (small-minded beauraucrats with a tiny bit of power are a dangerous thing; best to just be nice).
